Happy New Year friends and Bandits…Hope January is treating you well so far?
Guess that’s the festive party season well and truly over for another year…boo hiss! The Christmas tree and decorations are all safely packed away and the house looks a bit bare and forlorn…thankfully I don’t feel the same haha!
I had a great wee time to myself this year and have been carousing with the best of them! Have really enjoyed getting out and about much more, the parties and generally feeling much more confident in myself!
Hogmanay in Glasgow was an amazing, glitzy wee affair. Went with the girls to a big party in the Corinthian Club and it felt great with a capital G!
Saying that, have kind of taken my eye off the ball as far as my band and the weight-loss/fitness aims are concerned so it`s definitely time to revisit my goals and get back on the straight and narrow again ASAP!
Too many cocktails, Christmas treats, meals out and generally slipping back into bad habits have stalled my weight-loss big time!
Feel the time is right now to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. First things first is to get the head back in the right place and start making sensible choices again, beat the bloat and get fit! Desperately need another band-fill too as I have had absolutely NO restriction for the past 6 weeks or so.
Took Michael and his girlfriend for a run in the car down to Portpatrick on Monday. It`s a gorgeous little village on the coast near Stranraer with a beautiful harbour, some great pubs/coffee places, interesting shops and fantastic walks. The idea was to go for a nice long walk along the cliffs but it was, bitterly cold, windy and very muddy…unfortunately the teens were not as enthusiastic as yours truly so after an hour we headed back to the warmth of a local pub and enjoyed a nice coffee by a roaring log fire…bliss!
Suitably refreshed and cheeks glowing we sauntered back to the car only to be met with the most stunning sunset at the harbour! Not quite what was intended but a great wee feel good day nonetheless!
Made up for it exercise wise on Tuesday and managed to clock up a 2.5 hour brisk walk to Troon and back with one of my friends. Even though it was raining and the wind was bitter cold we felt great when we got back home.
Had intended to do the same again yesterday but unfortunately my son was really poorly and we ended up spending all of Wednesday at the local Hospital. The wee soul was admitted after a nasty bout of acute renal colic/passing blood. Anyone who has had renal colic will tell you it`s one of the most painful things!! Was a dreadful day for him but thankfully after morphine, iv fluids and a barrage of tests I was allowed to take him home late evening last night. Think he passed a kidney stone but thankfully he is ok today…just a bit tired…phew!
Anyhoo Thursday has been spent catching up with you guys and gutting the house. Have spent 4 hours getting it back to some semblance of pre-Christmas normality…reckon that’s burnt off enough extra calories for today.
Need to go to work soon so just time for a shower and a nice healthy dinner of fish and broccoli (yum!)
Take care and if you can`t be virtuous this week Bandits at least be good to yourself!
Till next time…

And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.”
